Newton Public Library Presents: The Dockum Drugstore Sit-in

This free hybrid event will allow you to attend online or in person in the Intrust Room of the Newton Public Library, or register to attend via Zoom. Registration is required only if you are attending via Zoom

Newton Public Library, in conjunction with Humanities Kansas, presents: Priscilla Barnes. Priscilla is a social justice and equality advocate, as well as the founder of Storytime Village. She will discuss the history of the Dockum Drugstore Sit-in. The sit-in took place in 1958 in Wichita, Kansas. The sit-in was a three-week peaceful protest against segregation in Wichita.
